Hi everyone! I wanted to write a quick note asking for suggestions on what kind of gift you think Heidi and I should get for our new God-daughter, Helly, who I wrote about here in November. She is two years old and the youngest of two girls. I will take ideas in the comments section and then I will let you all know what we decide to get for her in a post before I leave for Peru on January 10th. Multiple votes for a certain gift will give weight to what we decide to give, but I am looking for an original gift idea. If anyone is interested in making a gift that we could buy from you--give me a proposal and I will let you know!

Gift ideas? Hmmm...I'm having a hard enough time with my own girls! I know we're getting them a Guinea Pig. I don't suppose you could get that could you? :-)
I suppose that you would want to get her something for her faith life since you are a god-parent. Perhaps a Bible in Spanish... or a devotional for kids...whichever is more affordable for you or Heidi?
how about 'little visits with God' in Spanish? or English obviously. i think CPH prints it in spanish.
did you have that wonderful devotion bood when you were a child? i did when i was growing up and that was a LONG time ago!
My favorite children's teaching is the kid version of "What would Jesus do?" Teaches the principles we live by. I bet it's in Spanish or Heidi could translate it :-) Give her a bond so when she goes to college she will have her first start from you.
Brad--In Peru they eat Guinea Pigs...Helly's family actually has fed me them twice. :-)
Conrad--almost all of the families have Bibles now, do you have a specific devotional for kids that you might suggest?
Aunt Carole--I don't remember that devotional book but I am sure it was around at some point in my childhood.
Hi Jon,
You can never go wrong with books for gifts. Books about Jesus' love will always help her grow both spiritually and academically. Another idea might be a cross or plaque with a cross for her sleeping area or room, if she has one. Who knows, Elvis may even enjoy having a cross in his home.
Glad to know you and Hiedi have been blessed with the duties of being God-parents. It is a special duty in life!

I can't think of any books off the top of my head. But I do remember books that my parents read to me as a little kid. I remember hearing the Parable of the Sower (Matt 13) in a children's book as a little kid.
I was thinking of that kind of Bible or a kind of book that has illustrations reflecting a Bible story.
Good luck and Godspeed as you make your choice.
No matter how hard you try, you cannot outdo the gift she already received--the gift of eternal life through Jesus.
Your love to her is a gift so don't overlook that.
I am a book person myself so I like the other ideas that have been suggested.
A keepsake is also nice such as a cross to hang on her wall as a reminder of her salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus.
God's blessings to all of you.
Gloria
